Nigerian artist Eniwaye Oluwaseyi is currently presenting two solo exhibitions in Luxembourg City and Paris, both titled Buried Roots Up in the Air. Hosted at Zidoun-Bossuyt Gallery, the shows explore themes of memory, migration, and the idea of home. Through his paintings, Oluwaseyi creates emotional spaces that reflect both personal and shared experiences.

Drawing from family photographs and everyday domestic scenes, the artist builds layered interiors that feel both familiar and uncertain. His work is shaped by his life between Nigeria and the Netherlands, where ideas of belonging continue to shift. In many of the paintings, figures seem to move between presence and absence, while the spaces around them carry quiet tension and meaning.

The exhibition comes at an important time in Oluwaseyi’s career. His work has already been collected by major institutions like the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Xiao Museum. His growing recognition was further highlighted when Artsy named his show among the standout exhibitions to see in April 2026. In Luxembourg, visitors can view eleven paintings, including MAMA DEE (2025), which features a calm yet powerful female figure meeting the viewer’s gaze.

Originally from Kwara State, Oluwaseyi began painting in 2015 while studying law. He taught himself over time and developed a unique style that blends memory, identity, and storytelling. Buried Roots Up in the Air is on view until April 25, 2026, offering audiences a chance to experience his thoughtful and evolving practice.
